Great invite. The food was perfect!

Delicious - was amazed at the flavors of their sushi

We were once again in the beautiful city of Hamburg and were rewarded with dream weather. Another reward for a stressful day at work was the fantastic sushi in the East Restaurant. Our attentive waiter (who turned out to be a manager) was not only extremely attentive, but also a perfect host and advisor when it came to the sushi specialties. Great starters too - spicy prawns and pulpo. The wine selection was also perfect. We were there a lot longer than planned. The Corona regulations have also been implemented very well, which is important these days. For us it is clear - the next time we are in HH, we will order the sushi boat again.

Delicious sushi and a cool location. It was a lovely evening at the East Hotel. The table is only available for 2 hours during Corona times.

The building is absolutely beautiful and interior is so cozy. The food was good but nothing spectacular but fresh and nicely placed on the serving platters. But what takes this place down is the service. Got food before drinks and forgot some drinks to the able which we ordered and then the timing of serving of food was so much apart that we finishes most dishes and then 30 mins after came on of the sides we had ordered. But the staff was nice and kindly apologized. I think this place for sure have potential to have a five star but need to work on the service and timing of serving

The food was ok but the service was terrible. Do not fall in the trap of the summer menu.

A restaurant and bar with a very modern and romantic look. We tried lobster soup, thai curry and a great steak and everything was extremely tasty. The food is not Michelin level but definitely worth a visit. The service is very friendly and the waiters are attentive to the guests.

The architecture, incomparable! The staff very attentive. Large selection of sushi at its finest. The rest only steaks in the modular system, the same applies to the fish. I.e. choose a piece and order / combine everything separately. Then it becomes quite expensive and it is not something special.

The ambience of the restaurant is impressive. For me personally a bit too dark, so that some guests needed additional lamps at their tables, well. The kitchen was good but not particularly original. I would have expected a little more sophistication for the money. The sushi was good but too expensive. Ate at least equivalent, if not better, for 25 € all you can eat at the competition. The staff was friendly but a bit too bargain for a restaurant in this price range. Different with breakfast, super friendly and funny staff, super accommodating, just great, that is what you want every morning.

The most of the money what you spend is for suggestive location, very nice. The rest is just ridiculous expensive, food and cocktail.

That was simply fantastic! The ambience, the food and last but not least our waiter Alex (besides my incredible company) made this evening an incomparable event! Keep it up, I'll definitely be back !!!

Special location with a fascinating lighting concept. Relatively small selection of dishes, but sushi friends get their money's worth. The service was unfortunately not satisfactory for this price segment ...

A chic setting for a fusion Japanese Western sharing restaurant. The bar is roomy and good to stand up for drinking and chatting. In the restaurant the grotto seating was a little packed and with a low ceiling it made noisier than expected. Food menu had adequate choice of Japanese sushi and sashimi an rolls. Excellent choice of grilled meat and cooked to order. Pricing at the mid to upper end. Where things went sideways, the orders got mixed up and one order was wrong, and little things were missed so a lot of chasing up. Maybe we had a bad day but for the money we were expected slick service.

Another wonderful evening, also thanks to Sebastian😊 Service perfect. Nice atmosphere. It's just great here. The normally pre-served dip we had unsubscribed. For this we have received white bread with oil and Parmesan as an alternative. CLASS! Sushi and beef fillet always ingenious. The only thing I did not really like this time was the Red Snapper. Personally too honey-rich. As a main course then just too sweet. A matter of taste. For the conclusion again a highlight: the great prepared dessert variation.

I went to East Restaurant on Friday 5th July. To be honest, I really happy with service and food. The place is always beautiful and trendy. Highly recommend Sushi & Sashimi a la Chelf. And just simply enjoy your evening!

Promising venue and food let down by s-l-o-w service and a kitchen that can’t cope when busy. We arrived as a group of 7 and had great service at the bar as we waited for our table. We were seated at 8.50pm and ordered at 9. Nothing happened until 10pm when some edamame arrived. Water, lost. Wine, slow and had to be chased. Manager (when I complained) nice enough but weak and ineffective. Apologised, said they were rushed. I asked why he hadn’t communicated rather than just hiding. Food when it arrived was very good - worth the higher-than-average price. No adjustment made to the bill. Retired to the bar where once again good service from friendly staff (and a sub-1hr wait for our order!). Summary: good food, nice ambience, rubbish and inept service in the restaurant, good bar.

Food was excellent, as always, if you like it "spicey". The menu is Asian, and very good steaks are also on offer. Unfortunately, a permanent smell of chlorine spoiled our nice get-together - which the waitress and her colleague unfortunately only acknowledged with a shrug. What a shame. Food 9/10 Ambience 9/10 Price €€€ "Come again factor" 1/10

Nice decor, cool designer furniture, descent food - a bit tasteless, not as good service. Very expensive.

2017-06-08 - We had dinner this place which was a really great experience. We were four people and the service and food was absolutely in top! I can only recommend this place.

great atmosphere... friendly and professional staff.... menu has diversity... I ordered Cesar Salad with spicy chicken it was good but salty... sushi was perfect and well presented... salmon was perfect .... recommended

A beautiful building but unfortunately the food left a lot to be desired. Sushi starter was exceptional there is no question and the sushi team should be praised. However the main meal was inedible- the ‘Thai’ red curry I ordered was, on first arrival, cold in the middle, after being sent back to the kitchen it came back with an explanation that ‘it was the salad’ that made it cold. This was the bean sprouts dumped in the top. I sent it back again- this time it returned without the bean sprouts and warmer in the middle. But the taste... awful... it cannot have been checked by the cook and there is no way it was prepared fresh. Just impossible. Soggy, tasteless vegetables, rubbery chicken. Reminiscent of a microwave meal but with a cost of €25 😳. All in all I won’t be returning and would advise others to beware not to be fooled by the classy interior. A severe case of style over substance.

It is a shame that I could only rate this 3 starts as this building is truly beautiful. I was there 30Jan'19. The atmosphere is calm, relaxed and music playing in the background. The alcohol inventory is a good vast vast veriaty. I had sushi and this was presented esthetically and tasted divine. I would recommend the sushi. It is a shame that the starter Chicken Tacco's was absolutely revolting, I have never tasted something this bad. My mate had the Thai red curry and from his description this tasted like it was made from a frozen packet. When it first came out is was cold, after that the vegetables was soggy and tasted not fresh. The service from the waiter was slow at some point there was live music playing and this girl could not sing. The wine we ordered was not kept near the table which is fine if the waiter come by regularly, if not you end up with a dry mouth.

Romantic place and delicious foods.

Nice food. Very impressive tuna tatar for starters! Chef’s sushi selection for main was so so. Actually I was a bit dissapointed. Agree with some of the other reviews: The waiters were polite but made a lot of mistakes.

Terrible place. We waited 1,5 hour on our dinner. Staff was very smiley but not polite at all. It took 45 minuts from arrival to first waiter take our order and we servel times tryed to get in contact with waiter. But I kept saying I will bee with you. In the end bill was wrong. But we payed because we don't want to wait more! Don't go there, its a hopeless place!

One of the best restaurants in Hamburg. Excellent sushi. The service staff are incredibly attentive, competent friendly.

Great food, very nice atmosphere and friendly staff! Prices are a little high, but quality of the food follows along nicely.
